By registering, claiming, or activating an account on this platform, you grant the student developer and platform maintainer an express, irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store, process, format, test, debug, migrate, backup, and publicly renderyour provided student profile information (including display name, roll number, admission number, email, avatar, bio, and interests) for the sole purpose of delivering, operating, and technically engineering this student platform. You expressly release and discharge the student developer from any personal data privacy liabilities, claims, or proceedings resulting from good-faith software development, database management, and campus community operations.
01Categories of Personal Data Collected
We collect only the minimum data required to facilitate peer-to-peer verification and community interactions:
- Cohort Credentials: College roll number and admission code (used solely to verify cohort standing during signup).
- Identity & Profile: Student full name, user handle, display avatar, hostel block, and personal interests.
- Contact Information: Student email address (used for session recovery and account security notifications).
- User Contributions: Discussion posts, comments, classifieds listings, handover confirmation records, and event RSVPs.
- Consent Metadata: Timestamped record of your agreement to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
02Purposes of Data Processing (Section 4 & 5, DPDP Act 2023)
Your personal data is strictly processed for the following specified legitimate purposes:
- Verifying that users are bona fide batch peers and preventing fraud or impersonation.
- Displaying your profile on the peer community directory once you activate your account.
- Facilitating in-person student handovers for study books and medical equipment.
- Maintaining server security, rate limiting, and spam prevention.
- Software development, database backups, bug fixes, and feature optimization.
03Activation-Based Profile Reveal
In compliance with the consent mandates of the DPDP Act 2023, cohort slots remain masked and anonymized across the public directory until an individual student proactively visits the signup page, verifies their credentials, and provides explicit consent. Only upon active student claim is their profile revealed to fellow peers.
04Zero Monetization & Zero Third-Party Sharing
We adhere to a strict non-commercial policy:
- We do NOT sell, rent, lease, or trade student personal information to any third parties, advertisers, or recruitment agencies.
- We do NOT run third-party behavioral advertising trackers or trackers that profile student browsing habits.
- Data is shared strictly when required by law or formal judicial order from competent law enforcement authorities in India.
05Data Principal Rights (Sections 11, 12, 13, DPDP Act 2023)
As a student user (Data Principal) under Indian law, you possess the following rights:
- Right to Access: You can view all personal details stored on your profile at any time in Account Settings.
- Right to Correction & Erasure: You can edit your bio, interests, and avatar, or request permanent deletion of your account.
- Right to Withdraw Consent: You may request account deactivation at any time, upon which your profile will be un-linked and returned to a masked slot state.
- Right to Grievance Redressal: You may submit complaints regarding data handling directly to our Grievance Officer.
